The day before yesterday I posted a blog on these supercute I Spy Bags. Like I told you before: I’m too late to buy one online, and I’m a no good crafty girl (can’t sew, can’t knit, can’t build a closet) so I thought up a little plan. I searched the web a little further and I found, tatatada: the I Spy Bottle. That’s right, BOTTLE. Clever, huh?

It’s the exact same toy, but in a bottle. Which means that you can make it in under 10 minutes:

• - find a nice plastic bottle
• - wash it out and dry thoroughly
• - make sure you remove the label
• - fill with a layer of rice, a couple of trinkets, a layer of rice, a couple of trinkets etc
• - stop when you’re close to the top – there should be enough space to shake the rice around!
• - glue on the lid, to make sure your clever kids won’t spray the car with rice
• - …done!

The big plus of the bottle above the bag is ofcourse that it rattles. (well, that’s a big plus for the kids, anyhow…

I really like what Vanessa did to the tops, making them a little nicer! I also love the hand drawn cards, identifying the trinkets inside.

I’m making two. One for Lena, filled with wooden ladybugs, cute buttons, gems, little dolls and horseshoes, etc. And one for Jet, which will contain tomboy stuff, like a mini-car, a little lego man etc (she’s way less girlie than her elder sister, somehow). On Pink and Green Mama’s blog I saw the same bottles, filled with rainbow rice – that might be cute too!
