I love chocolate. And tea. And marshmallows. And fudge. And, well, I love almost everything sweet. On top of all that, I also love to have people sitting and chatting at our table. Every now and then all those good things come together in a small and unexpected teaparty… Like last friday, when my friend (and business associate ;-)) Caroline came over for tea and brought this beautiful one person high tea kit from the cutest little cafe called Lof der Zoetheid.

It contained all of the above, all homemade, and all, very unDutch, scented with a flowery aroma. Really nice! The pictures aren’t too good, but there also was a big piece of homemade marshmallow that I loved most, well, and the fudge was really yummie too, and the cakes, ah, the cakes! All these yummie goodies were packed in¬† cute little box, which made it even more irresistible… and also a very nice treat to bring to the park on a sunny day to make a nice little picknick for you and your sweetie

I think I might have read about Lof der Zoetheid a year ago in Delicious Magazine, and after a little googling, I found this review by one of their editors:

Karamel met fleur de sel, marshmellow met oranjebloesem, koekje van eigen deeg met kokos, butterscothreep met pure chocolade en hazelnoten, chocolaatje met aardbeien en rozen, cake met maanzaad en citroenglazuur of polderkoek met karamel, pistache en chocolade? Al deze verrukkelijke snoeperijtjes waren zorgvuldig verpakt in een prachtig doosje in de vorm van een boek.

Tijdens KunsthalKOOKT kocht de redactie het doosje vol zoetigheden van Moeder Anastasia en dochter Elena. Deze dames hebben Russische roots. Elena’s specialiteit is patisserie en door haar aderen stroomt pure chocolade. Anastasia is kok en grafisch ontwerper. Samen werken ze in hun atelier aan de Eendrachtsweg aan cateringen, (Russische) high teas en zoete zaken. Moeder en dochter: ‘Wij zijn altijd op zoek naar spannende smaken en combinaties. We halen onze inspiratie uit de seizoenen en zijn dol op echte smaken zoals bergamot, lavendel, rooibos en jasmijn.’

This was by far the best high tea I had for a long time. So if you are in Rotterdam, and want to try it, pay a visit to Anastasia and Elena at Lof der Zoetheid . It’s situated in the North, close to the biggest cook store in Rotterdam, Kookpunt, which also sells a great collection of cookbooks, so after having tea you can go shopping too
